The difference between Quartz Glass and Borosilicate Glass

Quartz glass

Borosilicate glass

High borosilicate glass is made by using the electrical conductivity of glass sheets at high temperature.Because the linear thermal expansion coefficient is (3.3 sh 0.1)*10-6/K, it is also known as "borosilicate glass 3.3".Borosilicate glass is a special glass material with low expansion rate, high temperature resistance, high strength, high hardness, high light transmittance and high chemical stability.Due to its excellent performance, it is widely used in solar energy, chemical industry, pharmaceutical packaging, electric light source, craft jewelry and other industries.

1.Different ingredients

High borosilicate glass composition oxidation sodium silica, boron oxide and boron silicon content is higher in the sheet glass: 12.5 ~ 13.5%, silicon: 78 ~ 80%.But quartz glass is made of silica and the content is 99.99.

2. Different temperature tolerance:

The temperature of high borosilicate glass is 520 degrees and the softening temperature is 820 degrees.

The temperature of quartz glass is 1100 degrees and the melting point is about 1700 degrees.

3.Quartz glass is not only resistant to high temperature, but also to acid and corrosion.
