Paris, the capital city of France, is now working on replacing the new security barrier for the landmark Eiffel Tower. The former metal fence will be replaced by a clear glass sheet wall.

Clear Glass

According to the Eiffel Tower operating company, they are working with the Paris police to build glass sheets walls on both sides of the Eiffel Tower. It is reported that the clear glass wall consists of a total of 450 tempered glass panels. Each tempered glass panel is 6.5 cm thick, 3 meters high and weighs 1.5 tons. The entire project costs 35 million euros, or approximately 260 million yuan, and is expected to be completed in September this year.

Some people had previously questioned that the sheet glass wall will wrap the Eiffel Tower tightly like a box and affect tourists' viewing. In response, the personnel involved in the construction said that this does not prevent visitors from viewing the nearby scenery and is more beautiful than the metal protective fence built in 2016.

The Eiffel Tower built in 1889 is a landmark of Paris. After a series of terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015, the number of visitors to the Eiffel Tower dropped slightly. In order to ensure the safety of tourists, the Paris municipal government decided in October last year to start building a clear sheet glass wall with elasticity underneath the tower.

Looking forward to the Eiffel Tower surrounded by clear glass sheets wall.
